Also, in 1991, ATA was the largest civilian passenger carrier for U.S. Military during the Gulf War, transporting 108,000 military personnel on 494 missions to the Persian Gulf for Operation Desert Storm. The foundation of Alitalia was made in the year 1946, actual names as Aerolinee Italine Internazionali which is abbreviated as Alitalia.
